Today, I Chose Myself

Today, I paused. I breathed. I said no to everything that didn’t honor my peace — and yes to myself.
Self-care isn’t always about spa days or bubble baths.
Sometimes it’s turning off your phone. Sometimes it’s setting a boundary and sitting in the discomfort of growth.
Sometimes it’s choosing not to explain yourself.
self-care is resistance.
It’s rest in a world that often demands our exhaustion.
Its softness in spaces that only expect our strength.
It’s healing from things we were told to just “get over.”
So today, I watered my roots.
I reminded myself that I am not a machine.
I let the sunlight in.
I took up space, slowly and fully.
Self-care isn’t selfish, its survival, and it’s sacred.
And if no one told you today, you are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to heal out loud.
You are allowed to put yourself first, without guilt or apology.
Because you deserve care, not just when you’re falling apart, but every single day.
Reflection Question for Readers: What’s one thing you can say no to today to say yes to your well-being?
